Grant writing is essentially an exercise in making a case for why a funder should support your organization. Each part of a grant proposal can and should contribute to making a strong case. In this webinar, we will frame the component parts of a generic grant proposal--Organizational History, Statement of Need, Project Description, Evaluation, Budget, Attachments—as a series of questions that funders are asking prospective grantees to answer. We will explore strategies that enable grant seekers to use each section of the grant to build the strongest possible case for funding. Participants will have a clear understanding of what funders are seeking in each section of a grant proposal and will come away with strategies for using the components of a grant proposal to build a strong case for the program or project they want to get funded.

Bio: Susan Kaderka is a private consultant who works with non-profit organizations on fundraising and program development. For 22 years, she served at the Regional Executive Director of the National Wildlife Federation's (NWF) South Central Regional Center in Austin, TX, where she oversaw the Federation’s conservation and education work in 12 states and two territories. In this capacity she helped develop and launch the highly respected Texas Living Waters Program, which is reforming and reshaping the management of fresh water in Texas to better protect fish and wildlife. She was also a vocal advocate for the restoration of Louisiana’s deteriorating coastal wetlands, and for the restoration of the Gulf of Mexico coastal area in the wake of the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill. Her commitment to environmental education has resulted in partnerships with key urban school districts around signature NWF programs like Eco-Schools and Schoolyard Habitats. Kaderka holds a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Texas.
